SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) is a network protocol which primarily handles the tasks for transferring, accessing and managing the files as well as remote access to a server over a reliable packet data stream. This protocol runs aver a Secure Shell and assumes that the client is authenticated by the server. The authentication data related to the client is available on the protocol. For proper transfer and access of files over this protocol, you require a client side application. SCP (Secure Copy) is a Unix command for copying files over the network and this component comes with full implementation of the protocol. wodSFTP is tested and works great with all OpenSSH versions, as well as SSH (from SSH Communications Security Corp.) which are most common on today's servers, but has been also tested on others too. Different server implementations handle some sftp features differently.
